In this episode, we will discuss A.I. (Artificial Intelligence) and uncover the current developments and trends related to this encroaching phenomenon. Are we facing a future where we will all succumb to ChatGPT and our critical thinking will be replaced by sporadically clever algorithms, thus leading to an inevitable downfall for academia?

Questions, such as “What’s the smallest step forward” or “What yields the biggest value with the least amount of effort” are the burning questions that agonize product development teams around the world.

We read articles, listen to podcasts and watch videos to learn more about what others have found, experienced and felt in certain situations. But why are we doing this? Upon commencing a new gig, different people and departments are going to seek out for our help to “improve the UX of XYZ,” which we generally see as a good sign, as it shows that the holistic and comprehensive concept of User Experience Design has made its mark in today’s thinking. And as designers, we are usually well-equipped with a helpful and supportive mindset and, therefore, we are eager to seize the opportunity.

Reflections

Time flies. This is a well-known and arguably true aphorism all of us eventually come to realize. This month marks the beginning of my eighth year as a professional designer. Admittedly, this might not sound exceptionally long, but time has passed on a rapid pace and things have varied multiple times during this period. Projects, colleagues and even companies have changed, yet it feels that there hasn’t been much time to reflect on any of that.
